Good @nila, I use Lantus in the morning (for 4 and a half years).During the week when I am not on vacation I put it at 7.30 and on weekends between 9.30 and 11.00 (according to when I wake up).My specialist told me that I did not have to get up early on vacation or on weekends so that it was the same time (you don't get up at 13.00 xD)
Once the Lantus does not need to put it in the fridge or anything.I carry it in a bag together with the humalog junior, meter needles ... in my bag.As for trips I have this Amazon bag if I have proven that it endures 6 hours of travel without problems

Regarding the time of putting it on, if you see that you are lazy to have to be taking it to work, you can always well at noon or at night change it.
It is the good thing to use only basal.
Type1 we always have to carry the fast on top.
Even so I will tell you that when I put myself at night Lantus and came out some weekend, I went with the two bowling in my bag and was never upset.
