Can you self -manage diabetes?

Abbott and Novo Nordisk have allied to improve adhereics and monitoring of treatments for people with diabetes.Companies have presented two technologies integrated into the same 'app'.
In this way, the Abbott glucose monitoring system and the 'intelligent' insulin pen of Novo Nordisk send their data to a record that automatically allows the patient, that the patient can have a monitoring of his insulin administrationsimple.
Juan Francisco Perán, president of the Spanish Diabetes Federation (Fede), explained that this 'duo' of devices will cover a need that is not covered right now for diabetes patients.
"It will allow to self -manage the disease to each patient and will also improve management for their relatives," he explained.In addition, he stressed that the devices, thanks to their format, are suitable for all ages.
Javier Ampudia, a specialist in endocrinology and nutrition at the University Hospital of Valencia, explained that, in diabetes patients, glycemic control "is very important, since bad control is associated with greater chronic complications."
In addition, he has valued the role of Spain in glycemic control and has assured that the situation of the country "is better than in the United Kingdom or Germany, for example."

The article speaks rather "-Automatization".The pen would ask me for kings because I am very clueless (I think I have some attention deficit) and, as I do not immediately point in the app the dose that I have put on, after a while I do not know if I have put 1, 1, 1, 5 or 2, or I haven't put on anything because the pot has gone.That pen would transfer the data automatically to the app, I would be great.

HG diciembre 2020: 15.9. Última HG: julio 2024 5.8
Abasaglar 9 unidades. Metformina, 1000/0/1000. Humalog junior: 2 unid en desayuno y luego en función de lo que coma.

The "self -managed", like "smart feathers", is pure marketing and nothing else.
As for the electronic feather of Novo Nordisk I have used something for a few weeks, but I don't see great advantages (at least for me).And yes some inconveniences: 1) is longer than disposable feathers and, therefore, more complicated to carry it in bags/pockets and less discreet;2) Being a single pen forces it to always take it on top and does not allow others available to be used in places where you spend a lot of time (workplace, second home, etc);3) The dosage by means units complicates me a lot to know the dose that I put only with listening to the clicks of the dosing, because with this pen they double;and 4) does not emit sound or 'clicks' by injecting insulin, making it harder to intuit if it has gone well or has been all.
But, of course, everyone's experience can be very different and decide its use as well.

The truth is that I do not have it connected to any application, it gave it free at the Vall Hebron hospital my educator to better adjust with the 1/2 units.I have prescribed both the pen and the glass replacement, as you can see in the photo (I always carry one of each).The other day I poured it and as they were talking to me I click me without checking the units (I had lasted more than more), thanks to the indication, I looked quickly and I could avoid a substitute taking half a ration of ch.I find it softer to inject than the other, which sometimes you have to tighten with more pressure and several times to empty."Click" does.Anyway, I am happy with her and if I spoiled me and they do not finance her I would not hesitate to buy me another.
