Diabetes Association issued a "serious situation" in Córdoba

The Argentine Diabetes Association (ADA) of Córdoba communicates to the population of Córdoba, the serious situation that the community with diabetes lives due to the lack of compliance with the regulations of the current national law No. 26914.

People with diabetes without social work, "should have" guaranteed specialized care and coverage of medicines and supplies necessary for treatment, through the Cordoba Diabetes (Procordia) program, whose Advisory Technical Commission, A.D.A.It has been part of almost a year.

The struggle is given so that the existence and delivery of medicines and supplies necessary to treat this pathology in a timely pathology, in each health center of the city and the provincial interior, assisted by Procordia, is granting, which is not happening and every monthThe situation is even more serious.

This program serves more than 13,000 people with diabetes in the province of Córdoba, through the different provincial hospitals and provincial and municipal care centers of Córdoba.

Since the beginning of the management of the new Advisory Technical Commission of Procordia, continuous and constant claims have been made, before the Minister of Public Health of the Province of Córdoba, Dr. Francisco Fortuna, achieving as responses only promises, without solutions.

In the month of July/August of last year, the new Technical Commission of Procordia, raised before the Ministry of Health of the Province of Córdoba, the need to renew the Vademecum of medicines and supplies that this program contemplates and it was so, that it wasHe designed a new list of medicines and supplies, according to National Law 26914 in force.

This proposal was accepted and approved by the Ministry, to the point, that the Procordia commission was asked to dictate training courses in provincial capital and interior, based on that new Vademecum.These training were provided in October 2014.

But to date, not only, that updated vademecummonth.

On the other hand, Apross, which is the social work of the province of Córdoba, has been systematically denying the coverage of medicines and supplies necessary to correctly carry out the treatment of diabetes, lacking the regulations of the current national law No. 26914.

The greatest claims that we have received regarding the lack of coverage where Apross is breaking with the current law, is given by: insulin indications “Tresiba”, by Victaza and for continuous infusors of insulin with blood glucose sensor.Many of these procedures began in 2013.

Some patients, given the refusal and without reason wielded by the Apross authorities, denying the coverage of a vital medication such as insulin, were in the need and obligation to act judicially, through amparo resources.

In diabetes you can fully live with quality of life or simply "survive."This last option implies a huge social and economic cost, which apparently, to the health authorities of our province of Córdoba do not care and also want to deny it.

In all cases the economic issue is decisive, but we are convinced and we can prove it, that a person with "well -controlled" diabetes is much more profitable for any health system, than a single episode of decompensation or a chronic complication generated by theBad control of diabetes, with all that this implies.Ex: International Internations, ketoacidosis, amputations, dialysis, blindness, heart disease, etc.

This serious situation was also raised before the Ombudsman of theNation, Ombudsman of the Province of Córdoba and the Association of Defenders of the People of the Argentine Republic (ADPRA), in the opportunity to develop, in the city of Córdoba, the 2015 Annual Plenary of defenders of the People of the Argentine Republic, takenout on May 7 and 8 ppdo.
