In an OECD report, a comparison between the health index in our country and the average of the countries belonging to the body was made.
According to a report where a comparison is made between health indices in Chile with the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), it was concluded that health financing in Chile is inefficient and inequitable.
It was also stated that Chile is one of the countries with the worst management of chronic diseases, such as diabetes.This disease affects 415 million people worldwide, of which, one and a half million are Chilean.
Other variables that were analyzed were:
- Total health spending: from the total expenditure of Chileans in health, the vast majority leaves people's pockets.
- Investment in Health: Between 2009 and 2013, our country was the one that grew the most, but only the Mita of the Promerdio was invested.
- Doctors per inhabitants: in our country there are two doctors per thousand inhabitants, and the OECD average is three doctors per thousand inhabitants.
- Waiting times: Chileans are waiting for more time in medical care in relation to OECD countries.
