This Saturday, June 4, patients with type 1 diabetes grouped in the #Bombadeinsulinaalauge campaign will march to the La Moneda Palace to ask the government to finance insulin pump therapy.

Children and adults with the disease will deliver a letter to the president of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, together with the two resolution projects that request the financing and were approved unanimously in the Chamber of Deputies earlier this year.

The group has made a massive campaign through social networks asking that therapy be financed due to its high cost, which reaches a value of up to 5 million 500 thousand pesos and monthly between 200 and 500 thousand pesos, in inputs.

The campaign managed to gather more than 42 thousand support signatures through the Change.org platform and also the support of the Medical College: “For the first time patients with type 1 diabetes we will march to sensitize the country's authorities regarding the need forImprove the quality of life of those who suffer from this disease. We invite all the families who have a child with type 1 diabetes to accompany us in this unique moment because the authorities have indicated that they analyze the possibility of financing through the second decree of the Ricarte Soto law, which must be ready on 30June, ”said Hermes Gamonal, former national tennis player and campaign leader.

Marcelo González, creator of the Midiabetes.cl platform and that he also leads the crusade, stressed that “we hope to bring together a significant number of patients and children with the disease, so that it is they who sensitize President Bachelet of the urgent need for financing.Patients of regions that will not be able to accompany us, will carry out their own activities in their areas and accompany us through social networks. ”

The patients are summoned for tomorrow Saturday at 10.30 am at the north departure of the University of Chile, where they will walk through Alameda with the Ahumada walk until they reach the Plaza de la Constitución.

The deputies Marcela Hernando (PR), Luis Rocafull (PS) and Karla Rubilar (independent) who have supported the cause through resolution projects in the National Congress have confirmed their assistance.
