When a person is diagnosed with diabetes, what hurts the most is the sacrifice to do.

No more cereals or bread, and not to mention many other myths about diabetes that you have surely heard.

It is at this point, when frustrations begin because you must monitor everything that enters your mouth.

They are barely announcing that you have the disease and you already started thinking about how difficult it should be to live with something that requires so much care for physical health.

In themselves, people who do not have diabetes live thinking about the amount of sweets they are going to eat so as not to develop complications.

Although, diabetes is a chronic medical disease that affects 8.5 of the world adult population, we then present some myths about this disease that you should begin to ignore.

Type 1 and type 2 diabetes are similar.

This myth causes many people to tend to be confused with treatment, which can lead to major medical problems.Imagine that you diagnose type 2 diabetes, for example, and your family buys medications to combat type 1 diabetes.

Surely they have had good intentions but, instead of improving the situation, they are aggravating it.

To avoid the first of the myths about diabetes and have a clearer vision of the difference between both types, it is important to know what each of them represent:

- When they diagnose a person with type 1 diabetes, it means that their body does not produce insulin.

Everyone needs insulin, which is the hormone produced by the pancreas. This provides energy in the form of glucose to cells.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that causes the body to error to insulin producing cells.

-The type 2 diabetes appears when the body does produce insulin, but does not use it effectively. When there are this type of diabetes, it is said that there is insulin resistance.

If this is your case, you may need a small extra dose to go to work.

do diabetics have to use insulin?

Among the myths about diabetes, it relates to the previous one. Many people believe that all patients with diabetes should be injected insulin.

The reality is that 100% of those who have type 1 should be injected insulin and only 30% of people with type 2 are given this treatment.

However, in the latter it is rare.Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with oral medications that work to reduce the amount of blood sugar and favor the increase in insulin in your body.

Both types of diabetes can be regulated with an exercise routine, a nutritious diet that helps avoid blood sugar, and even maintain balanced tension.

In the case of type 2 diabetes, the consumption of medications can be reduced if a balance in health is achieved. In type 1 diabetes, insulin for life is needed, in addition to the above recommendations.

Can you eat carbohydrates?

Of course you can eat carbohydrates.Although, if you have diabetes, obviously, you have to eat them in a few portions. However, you don't need to eliminate them at all.

To combat the third of the myths about diabetes you must visit a nutritionist to tell you the amount you should consume.

A craving is not bad, but you must take good care of yourself to be able to give you a pleasure from time to time.If it becomes a daily habit you will be attentive against the health of your body and even your own life.

The carbohydrates you must forget are synthetic or low nutritional contribution:

- Bread
- Sugars
- sweeteners
- Refrescos
- Sweets

There are carbohydrates rich in fiber, such as lentils,Bean, pumpkin and potatoes. These delay digestion and help keep blood sugar relatively stable.

eating too much sugar causes diabetes?

This is the most common of myths about diabetes and, truth, many scholars have determined that sugars do not cause this disease.

Rather, diabetes is a response to a complicated relationship between carbohydrates and sugars.

It may also be due to a diabetes history in the family, for our weight or by the way our body fits all of the above.

Remember that not all sugars are the same. For example, fructose you find in natural fruits causes less damage than the sugars you find in sweets.

Is it a serious illness?

This disease is quite serious. The fact that you are not going to die for diabetes does not mean that it will not produce complications. If you do not take appropriate measures to control the problem, you can lead to:

- Heart diseases
- stroke
- Amputations
- Blind
- Renal disease

It is sad to see people with diabetes who begin to neglect for the belief that this disease will not kill them. While it is true, remember that your complications can still be worse.

This disease kills in a physical and psychological stealthy way, day after day, you want or do not want, since no matter how much sacrifice, effort, discipline you use in it, there is no perfection.
