Coexistence of teenagers with diabetes

The Tenerife Diabetes Association (ADT) with the collaboration of Medtronic, will celebrate from July 3 a coexistence of adolescents, to which 23 boys with diabetes between 14 and 18 years of age will attend.The chosen place is El Bolico hostel, in Buenavista del Norte in the Park Rural Park of Teno.

Adolescence is a difficult stage, or not diabetes is suffered, but having this disease can cause undesirable attitudes in some boys if no measures are taken to prevent them.Although it should not happen in all cases, there are certain risks in adolescents that originate difficulty in achieving a good level of glucose due mainly to: hormonal changes, increase in food consumption in an unregulated and inappropriate way, rebellion to put theInsulin, fear of rejection or mockery of their classmates for having diabetes, among others.

From the psychological point of view, the mere fact of meeting with other boys who also suffer from diabetes, will allow them to verify that they are not the only ones with this disease, thus facilitating a better acceptance of diabetes.
