A group of researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has sought a solution made of silver nanoparticles, which, in clinical tests, has cured the ulcers of people with diabetic foot, avoiding amputation in more than 90 percentof treated patients.
"The ulcer is an open wound, susceptible to infections by bacteria and fungi, which generates inflammation and prevents the healing lesion from applying. By applying silver nanoparticles, an antibacterial effect is created that helps generate healthof Nanosciences and Nanotechnology located in Baja California (USA), Karla Oyuky Juárez Moreno.
Results in three months
This treatment achieves, in three months, healing the ulcers of the diabetic foot but first a doctor must do the cures, eliminate the dead tissue and place the solution in aerosol.To achieve effectiveness, supervised daily applications have to be made.
The solution has been applied in patients who had antibiotic treatment for more than six months and who did not see improvements and even some were diagnosed with amputation."With our technological development we report a prompt healing, time depends on the degree of ulcer," he said.
"Those who present levels one, two and three are relieved in less than six months, but those with level four, where the limb is very damaged, we have had a 10 percent success," the doctor has detailed.
Many have already healed
The group of scientists has implemented innovation in private clinics and the health sector, including Issstecali hospitals and the general of Rosarito, both located in Baja California, in the latter more than one hundred cases were discussed and 94 percent saved their limbs.
At the national level, there are already 60 patients who have saved their limbs from the use of this product, which has international toxicity committees that support the safety of silver nanoparticles for use as cosmetic in humans.
