So far, the ‘Play Zone’ of Lilly have settled in three hospitals in Andalusia and three others from the Canary Islands, one from Castilla-La Mancha, four from the Valencian Community, three from Madrid and three from Galicia.The objective of these spaces is to create a more cozy environment where to learn healthy habits and key aspects about diabetes during waiting in these centers.
The educational playing areas for minors with diabetes known as 'Play Zone', installed in 17 Spanish hospitals thanks to a collaboration agreement with Lilly, have received the “Best Ideas 2016” Prize for the Medical Daily in the “Bleasant and solidarity and solidarity category”With this playful-formative initiative, thousands of children already benefit from a more cozy environment and learn healthy habits and key aspects about diabetes during the waiting of their hospital consultation.
“This award is shared with all the hospitals with which we have collaborated since the start -up of the initiative, which was born to promote the normalization of diabetes in the child population.The project is still underway and will soon be extended to the pediatric pediatrics and endocrinology services of other hospitals distributed by the Spanish geography, ”said Teresa Millán, director of Corporate Affairs of Lilly.
The spaces enabled in these centers include games, tables and chairs for children to entertain and paint, and reading areas with educational stories such as those starring Coco, the first Disney character with diabetes, which arose from an agreement reached with Lilly for LillyReduce the impact of diabetes on childhood with a positive message in the face of the disease.
The beneficiaries of the ‘Play Zone’ are 47,500 children from the Clinical and Doctor Peset hospitals in Valencia and Sant Joan de Alicante;18,000 children from the Jiménez Díaz Foundation Hospital;10,000 patients who pass through the consultations of children's diabetes of the Hospitals Virgen Macarena and Virgen del Rocío de Sevilla;4,000 of the Pediatrics services of the HUC and the Hospital de la Candelaria de Tenerife;10,000 minors visiting the General Hospital of Albacete;as well as another 400 of the Endocrinology and Pediatric Diabetes of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid and 250 of the La Paz Hospital in Madrid.
