Fadex: Training workshops for diabetes self -care

The Federation of Associations of People with Diabetes de Extremadura (FADEX) has begun to teach at the Villanueva Norte Health Center some workshops for the self -care of type 2 diabetes. Fadex has trained people with type 2 diabetes as promoters to lead groups of 10 to 12 people in order to help them better manage their disease through group formation between equals.

In turn, the Ministry of Health and Social Policies of Extremadura has trained nurses who are going to support the promoters of self -care in the workshops that have already begun to be taught in several health centers of the Autonomous Community.

These workshops are aimed at patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes or with little diabetological training and Fadex's intention in this first experience is to carry them out in seven health centers in seven locations in Extremadura.At the moment they have already been held in Torrejoncillo and Zafra, and yesterday they began at the Villanueva-Norte Health Center, where they will continue to be taught until February 15.
