The new treatments and technologies allow improving the management of a disease that affects 14% of the adult population.
The Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) hosts tomorrow a scientific day on the advances in the treatment and prevention of diabetes mellitus, a worldwide epidemic that affects 14 percent of the adult population in our country.
In recent years there have been relevant advances, with the appearance of new treatments and technologies that improve attention to people with diabetes.The day will serve to review these progress and their application to the monitoring and control of the affected people.
During the first round table, the data on the degree of attention to the person with diabetes, the percentage of complications and the cost of a patient to the health system will be presented.Likewise, and for the first time on a scientific day, the data of the Atlas of Diabetes Mellitus in Asturias 2015 will be addressed, which will be exposed by Mario Margolles, coordinator of the Diabetes Map of the Asturias Health Observatory.
In the second round table experts will address the most relevant therapeutic novelties of the last year for people with diabetes, such as new aspects in the treatment and prevention of heart failure in the person with diabetes.It will also be deepened in the most important clinical differences between the new drugs, and finally an authentic individualization in the treatment based on clinical cases.
The Clausura Conference will deal with the new technologies available so that the person with diabetes can know their glycemia levels.
Organized by the HUCA Endocrinology and Nutrition Service, the day will be attended by 200 professionals from all Asturias who work day by day with the diabetic patient: specialist doctors, primary care doctors and nurses.
