POLICLÍNICA NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL ROSARIO has just been a diabetes unit that aims to offer a better service to the patients thanks to teamwork of different specialists involved.

At the head of the team is the specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition, Dr. María Victoria Velasco.They also make up the Unit Specialists in General Surgery, Traumatology and Orthopedics, Vascular Surgery, Ophthalmology, Interventionist Radiology, as well as a nursing team that has been formed in Diabetological Education.

With the Diabetes Unit it has been possible to implement a greater control of diabetes through the hospital through communication and teamwork.In addition, patients are taught to handle and know their illness better, which provides them with autonomy and better quality of life.

Along the same lines the I Diabetes Mellitus Days, which will be held this weekend in SA residence, will offer information to both professionals and patients or interested in general.

On Friday, April 15, the conferences will be aimed at health professionals, and some of the topics to be discussed will be the following: "Multidisciplinary units of diabetes", by Dr. Velasco,"Diabetes management in the hospitalized patient", by Dr. Velasco, "Management of emergency diabetes", by Dr. Cuervo Pinto (Semes Diabetes) or "Basic Diabetological Education", by diabetes educating nurses.Dr. Margarita González, endocrinologist at the Can Misses Hospital, will make a conference on patient management with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It will also participate in round tables on the therapeutic and technological novelties applied to diabetes.

Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 , the days open to the general public and will have talks such as: "Food, exercise and diabetes", taught by diabetes educating nurses, "howPrevent acute and chronic complications of diabetes ", by doctors Velasco and González," Diabetic associations (by Mrs. Laura Pérez, president of the Association of Diabetics of Ibiza and Formentera, or "Diabetes and Special Situations (Travel, Sports, Alcohol...) ", by doctors Velasco and González, and diabetes educating nurses.
