Hello everyone!

My name is Rafael, I am 27 years old and a week and a half ago I was detected type 1 diabetes.

As you will see, I am very new in all this but luckily I have a support of professionals and a care that from the first moment they gave me since I was admitted to the hospital.

For now I am in 8 of Apidra and 22 of Toujeo. The first days gave me Lantus but the family doctor changed it to Toujeo, and told me that every two days, if I see even high results, go up two units of the toujeo.

Even the values remain high, generally awake with 250 or so, during the day that is varying although I must say that approx three days ago that since it changes from the lantus (16) to Toujeo (22) there were positive changes.Yesterday, for example, two hours after lunch I had 135!That was the lowest thing that arrives.Today until now that I am writing this between breakfast and lunch Rando between 280 and 250 without having "very high" peaks.

In food terms, the truth is that I am adapting to a "tremendous" change since before all this, it led a life not very healthy and in food terms it was very bad, I could be all day with a meal ... "Luckily "this motivates me to bring my food over all things.

At home you eat very healthy and little by little I know my food and especially myself and react to this new stage.Little by little I am dating some walks during the day too.

Something that worries me is that in the calves I feel, like they move (and I see even) in the form of waves so to speak. When I wake up I feel very strong pulls in the same area.I also have a little blurry.

I understand the cause of this. But I would like to know if now I feel like that for the high values and when I manage to keep them well?

I know that I have to carry a very severe control of the view and feet and that will be what I will talk to my doctor, it already marks them.I suppose that so far we do not touch the subject because we are waiting to know how much insulin it would be the one that would have to administer.

I would like to give me their opinions and more than anything tips to do all this more bearable.

Thank you very much to everyone!

@"rafilla", greetings and welcome. As you say you have to go with it, little by little, there are many new concepts and many different things to the previous situation. It is a luck that you feel protected by the specialists who attend. In addition to the family doctor I hope you also carry the supervision of an endocrine, it is essential in type 1 diabetes (and in many type 2 etc. Also, although the most common is that it is the header doctor who takes control, sometimes, sometimeshitting and others ... in short. The toujeo is to be expected that you will do much better than the lantus. The changes little by little and with the head. The food is fundamental, and sport is also very positive that you are motivated to establish positive habits in these two areas. The cramps in the calves and blurred view, in my opinion, they are surely effects of having been with surely very high glycemias for time until your debut, always from my opinion it is most likely that this disappears now that you are already in treatment. If you see what persists commenting with your doctor to stay calm. The controls of feet, view, etcbetter possible control and perform periodic reviews and analytics to check that everything is going well.Reading and documenting about future complications do not recommend it, according to my experience it is scratch and overwhelming, the most important thing is to know that adjusting control prevents and delays them.A lot of mood and a hug.
