The medicine is named after metformin (with brand names such as Glucophage) and was discovered in a study carried out in 8 thousand patients around the world to reduce the risk of her-2 breast cancer.It was the first time in a study that this medicine was used in women, which appeared published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

“So far there were preclinical studies in this field, using laboratory crops and mice.These showed that the supply of metformin and diabetes related medications in mice can prevent or delay the recurrence of breast cancer, while not supplying it can raise the risk of the return of the disease, ”said Dr. Amir Sonnenblick,of Hassah.
