Both societies sign an agreement to support and improve the diabetological education of patients.

The Spanish Society of Primary Care Physicians (Semergen) and the Spanish Federation of Diabetes (FEDE) have signed an agreement in order to promote the best training of primary care professionals and facilitate the social guarantee of their training, as well asContribute to the support and improvement of diabetological education aimed at diabetes.

The agreement has been signed by José Luis Llisterri and Andoni Lorenzo, presidents of Semergen and Fede respectively, and intends not only to benefit the associates of both entities, but also the people who attend these professional groups and patients with diabetes that do not formcurrently part of any association.

Among the collaboration activities that will arise thanks to this agreement, the two presidents have reported on the first actions they will undertake together.

As stated by the president of FEDE, Andoni Lorenzo, "the agreement between these entities will allow an important campaign for early detection and diabetes prevention in November, coinciding with the celebration of World Day of World Day ofThis pathology.

In addition, a survey will be conducted to know the degree of knowledge of patients about the Mediterranean diet.Actions that seek to favor the approach between medical professionals and people with diabetes and increase communication and training between both groups. "

Non -diagnosed pathology

"More than 45% of people with diabetes are by diagnose and in the initial phases you can already develop micro or macrovascular complications, hence the importance of a diagnosis and early treatment," said José Luis Llisterri, president of Semergen.

In this sense, Dr. Llisterri has remarked that “primary care is the best tool for primary diabetes prevention due to its accessibility, longitudinality, and implementation throughout the national territory”, and has highlighted the need to promote agreements, "Like the one we just signed with Fede, to implement training and research actions that help the family doctor improve the quality of life of these patients."
