Eye pathologies find 44% of patients with diabetes

The Gómez-in Institute reviewed 85 people on World Diabetes Day.

Professionals of the Gómez-in Ophthalmological Institute reviewed the fundus to 85 diabetic patients or suspected of having this disease, within the campaign carried out in collaboration with the Compostela de Diabeticos Association last Wednesday, in which World Day against this day was helddisease.

Of the people reviewed, 44 % had ocular pathologies, and in 11 % of cases they were problems derived from diabetes, such as macular edema or proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

From this clinic they recommend, to reduce the risk of eye diseases linked to diabetes, that the patient is made an annual review in a unit specialized in ocular diabetes, and that also controls its blood glucose level with healthy eating and exercisephysical.
