South Korea has won the tender to organize, in 2019, a large international forum on diabetes in the city of Busan, the main South Korean port city, in the southeast of the country, said, this Friday, the Tourism Organization of Korea (Kto, according to its acronym in English).

The next Congress of the International Diabetes Federation (FID) will be held, from December 2 to 6, at the Busan exhibition and conventions center (Bexco), in the city of Busan, about 453 kilometers southeast of Seoul,According to the Kto.

The non -profit federation, based in Brussels, established in 1950, aims to increase knowledge about diabetes and promote the care, prevention and cure of the disease.The Federation has hundreds of member organizations, from about 170 countries.

Congress is the world's largest academic fair on diabetes, and it is estimated that, during the event, visit South Korea about 15,000 guests, including 10,000 foreigners, according to the KTO.

This will be the third time that an Asian country is the host of the event, after India in 1976 and Japan in 1994.

The KTO Busan Unit said that the international event is expected to generate income of 63.7 billion wones (58.29 million dollars) and create about 660 new jobs.
