A child with diabetes from the Community of Madrid has achieved, after the intervention of the Ombudsman, who grant him a place in a school center of his district and the support of a nursing diploma to meet his health needs.
The minor family had requested without success in several centers in their district who have specialized personnel in the treatment of this disease.Nor had they been offered an alternative to schooling in another center where there were health personnel that could attend to him.
The Ombudsman went to the Ministry of Education of the Community of Madrid, which has assigned a place to the child in a center of his district, which he has provided with the necessary health personnel, as reported by the office directed by Soledad Becerril.
This initiative arrives days after an initiative that presented precisely to the Ombudsman the Spanish Federation of Diabetes (Fede).This is a campaign to ask the defender to intercede to end the labor discrimination suffered by the group of people with diabetes in Spain (more than five million citizens) when accessing public administration jobs, both at the levellocal as autonomic and national.

Therefore, Fede requests the Ombudsman to promote and carry out "how many actions are within their reach so that the public administrations update the medical cadres of current exclusions today in these professional activities, so that they allow the collective toIncorporation to public sector jobs without obsolete restrictions or generalized prohibitions that discriminate against people with diabetes who carry proper control of it. "
