The Huelva town of Almonte has hosted a new activity of the second edition of its Almonte Science program, which aims to disseminate scientific knowledge among the Almonte population and increase the scientific culture of the municipality through numerous activities that takeFebruary and March.
On this occasion, the Almonteños and Almonteñas have had the opportunity to learn to face and live with two diseases such as diabetes and AlzheimerThe multidisciplinary approach to these two diseases has been discussed.
After the inauguration of the Conference, which has been in charge of entities that are part of the organizing platform of Almonte Science, such as the City Council, the Association for the Promotion of Knowledge in Almonte (AFCAL), the Association of Family members and patients of Alzheimer'sDoñana and Association of Diabetics of Almonte (ADA), those attending the activity have had the opportunity to listen to a series of presentations taught by prestigious researchers, as well as the personal experience of a relative of people affected by diabetes and Alzheimer's diabetes.
On the one hand, Juan José Ramos (Almonteño researcher and Doctor of Health Sciences) addressed the latest advances in research on both diseases, after which Francisco José Pérez (Almonte Researcher in Neuroscience and Doctorate in Psychology) spoke on the nucleiCerebrals responsible for the learning processes and, consequently, of oblivion, in the development of Alzheimer's.Then, Miguel Albarrán (a degree in Medicine and Specialist in Family and Community Medicine) triedHis experience in accompanying the patient and current therapies.

It is also worth highlighting the presence in the days of the president of the Huelva Federation of associations of relatives of Alzheimer's patients, Rocío Muñoz, who stressed the importance of associationism for the approach of this disease.
The deputy mayor of Citizen Participation, Carolina Cabrera, has celebrated the "success" of these days and all the activities that are being developed within the framework of the Almonte Science program, organized from this Department with seven other entities: AFCAL, AFCAL,The Juan Pérez Mercader Astronomical Association, the SEO (Spanish Society of Ornithology), the Doñana Guides Association, the CSIC - in collaboration with La Caixa - and the IES La Ribera and Doñana.
