The differential aspect of this school regarding another type of training is that it is taught by people who have the same disease or share the objective of preventing them.
It is what is known as the same training.They are generally supported by health personnel that have been trained and advised for it.In addition, they use participatory methodologies that induce a self -reflection process in the person about their role in the care of their health, and affect the psychological and social part of the disease.It is a training that effectively complements the work of health and socio -health professionals.
In this context, the Ministry of Healand other public administrations, promotes the creation of the School of Care and Health.

With it he wants to respond, on the one hand to the needs of patients and caregivers.These, through training and acquisition of skills, can effectively face their disease process and make efficient use of available health resources.It also intends to respond to citizens in general to get involved in their self -care and form an active part, within their scope of influence, in the sustainability of the health system.
There are several activities in this regard programmed in the health area of Mérida.
In diabetes, breast and anticoagulation classrooms, the training of health agents is carried out in collaboration with patient associations such as Federation of Associations of Persons with Diabetes de Extremadura (FADEX), the Extremadura Oncological Association (AOEEX) and the Associationof anticoagulated and cardiovascular patients of Extremadura (APANEX).
Soon, workshops will begin that will train people who suffer from these pathologies as health agents and who want to share their knowledge, skills and experiences in the management of their illness.
Specifically, these classrooms will be developed in the Mérida Norte Health Center.

The key piece of school is the involvement of those who act as health agents.They can be patients with chronic pathology interested in helping their peers improve the self -management of their pathology.Or also citizens interested in advising and informing the population of health care.
Aware of the importance of the risk factors of much of chronic pathologies, the school affects the promotion of healthy lifestyles through equal training in different stages of life.
There are currently 9 classrooms created or in the process of creation.Classroom Health Operation, with the collaboration of educational centers and professional schools;Diabetes classroom;Weight Classroom at the El Progreso de Badajoz Health Center, and anxiety and emotional discomfort that arises from the 10 existing therapy groups and that has begun its piloting at the Health Center of the Mejostilla de Cáceres
