A group of researchers from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the BUAP proposes a nanomaterial which uses Caracol Baba, as a pharmacotherapeutic alternative for the treatment of limbs of patients with diabetes mellitus type 2.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), seven out of 10 diabetics suffer amputations from some lower limb, which affects the quality of life of the patient, hence, which has developed a solution in the BUAP.

Researchers from the Benemérita Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP) synthesized a zinc oxide nanoresservory, added with three grams of secretion of a garden snail of the species Cryptompalus spring.

When applying this new treatment, a dust that saved a patient's leg from amputation, scientists showed that their formula gives better results than some traditional.Where the secret is the snail slime.

The specialists of the maximum house of studies in the Poblana entity propose this nanomaterial as a pharmacotherapeutic alternative in the treatment of these injuries, because in addition to cash, it is cheaper and its much greater security range.

They refer in a statement that lowercase lesions become ulcers, which - not to be correctly and timely to propagate the infection to other parts of the body and leave the only option the amputation.

Hence, the researchers of the BUAP Faculty of Chemical Sciences applied the substance in the tissue repair of a patient originally from the municipality of Tecamachalco, Puebla.

The person had a chronic varicose ulcer at the bottom of the left leg (little above the external ankle), and thus see how he had in the replacement process of dead or damaged cells by healthy.

The Nanores Servantor Mucus/ZNO-3-40-name assigned to the substance in question-was applied in the form of dust directly in the wound and nearby areas (skin located within a radius not exceeding eight centimeters with respect to the sore).

They pointed out that for five months, they carried out this as a complement or alternative to the treatment provided by the clinical institution that attended it.

The scientists mentioned that at the beginning, the patient showed a deeply infected ulcer, the surrounding skin suffered coloration changes; It was dark.

He suffered a severe clinical picture of varicose ulcer, that is, cell death at the superficial and deep level, generally caused by venous insufficiency and the lack of nutrients in the veins.

Before this clinical picture their doctors suggested the amputation of the damaged limb, as usually recommended in most cases.

But after 46 days, the Nanores Servantor Muccus/ZNO-3-40 had applied a decrease in the length of the ulcer, although the same size persisted.

"Fortunately for the patient, at this time a certain regeneration of tissue was noticed and a change in skin color, towards their normal state," they said.

After three months with 15 days regarding the first application, they observed that the size was significantly lower and the presence of melicric scab without infection, so it would no longer need mutilation to guarantee the health of the patient.

Thus, with this treatment, it was possible to keep the leg and quality of life of this person who works selling Mexican snacks, hence in four months and 20 days, the researchers appreciated an impressive recovery of cellular tissue.

They indicated that some skin areas with coloring changes persisIndeed in tissue regeneration and heal the varicose ulcer or what remained of it.

In this regard, Albino Moreno Rodríguez, a scientist at the BUAP who is part of the team that developed this project, emphasized that the epidermal regeneration process is able to form tissue as the pre -existing in large part thanks to the tannins, in charge of the tissue regeneration.

He pointed out that the Nanoresservice of MUCUS/ZNO-3-40 manages in many areas this treatment as a catalyst in the mucus (secretion) of the Cryptomphalus spray snail, therefore, the tissue-wreening cycle is largely due to the redistributionfrom zinc to the injury zone.
