Sodicar: three days of talks and workshops to raise awareness about diabetes

Sodicar presents its conference cycle, focused this year on sport, monitoring and heart.
The Diabetes Society of Cartagena and its region (Sodicar) will celebrate from May 14 to 16, in the auditorium of the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation, the XXXV edition its cycle of conferences, talks and workshops.
The president of the collective, María Dolores García, presented yesterday the program with the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, who highlighted the work of the association with the families affected by diabetes, since Sodicar, which celebrates today its 35th anniversary, is aOrientation and information meeting point, which has allowed "improving the lives of hundreds of people and their families."
Likewise, Castejón said that one of the most outstanding activities carried out from the organization is the visit to the families found in hospitals because one of their children has "debuted" in diabetes at an early age.
Finally, he pointed out that in the Cartagena region there are 30,000 people with diabetes, of which 13,000 are unaware, while stressing that type 2 diabetes can be prevented by maintaining a healthy lifestyle with healthy food and sport.
For his part, Garcia narrated how several families of children with diabetes who had just received a diagnosis treated as an isolated case, at a time when doctors knew too much about the pathology met.
Four appointments
He also said that on Monday, after the inauguration of the cycle, the conference 'The continuous glucose monitoring will take place, a giant step in the control of type I diabetes that will expose the diabetologist and pediatric endocrine Raquel Barrio.
On Tuesday, May 15, the Conferences 'of Heart, takes care of your diabetes', of the cardiologist José García, of the Hospital de Santa Lucía;and 'How to act in front of a cardiac arrest', in charge of the intensive medicine specialist at the Santa Lucía Hospital, Lola Rodríguez.
The sport shift will arrive on Wednesday with the last conference of the cycle.The Spanish champion of Decathlon, Vicente Guardiola;And the Junior Heptathlon champion, Sergio Jornet, will talk about 'Diabetes and Sports'.

Hello, I belong to this association since 1992 but I am no longer integrated, the management team changed about when I was little and I am totally out, however if you recommend other associations of the region, perfect.How about Aguilas?Murcia?
