600 young people with diabetes learn in summer camps

600 young people with diabetes are learning new concepts about their pathology in the camps organized for this summer by the Spanish Diabetes Federation (FEDE), through a program it is designed to combine diabetological education, physical exercise and adequate food, inAn atmosphere of leisure and fun in which children can exchange experiences and receive emotional support.
The Fede, which has been organizing camps for children and young people with diabetes, has launched this initiative one more year, in various summer places that host about 600 kids between 7 and 16 years to provide themsports and healthy eating in a relaxed environment.
In addition, for the third consecutive year they also have the Diguan project, a space coordinated by psychologists focused on teaching adolescents to work and transmit feelings in relation to diabetes in their family environment.
In the opinion of the president of Fede, Andoni Lorenzo Garmendia, "these camps are an excellent alternative to help minors to acquire responsibilities with respect to their pathology."
Today, there are about 10,000 children with type 1 diabetes under 15 in Spain, a figure that increases every year in about 1,200 cases.
