The University Hospital I Politècnic The FAITH has initiated the Techniké Innovation Project to improve the clinical management of patients with type 2 diabetes.

This initiative is framed within the objectives of the Diabetes Clinical Management Unit of the Department of Salut València La Fe. Specifically, for this new project tools are being developed that allow supporting clinical decision making in diabetic patients of the Department ofSalut València La Faith.

The Techniké initiative basically consists of using the massive data available and new Bigdata technologies to better know the disease and the needs of patients.In addition, to measure clinical results, predictive models will be developed and will create a help systems that allow our professionals to management of the most proactive, precise, predictive and population disease that will mean obtaining better and more efficient results.

The project has already covered its first phase in which after the anonymized identification of a series of diabetic patients, indicators of clinical results have been developed that have been used for the construction of the Diabetes Management Management Table for the use of Y andThe professionals.Currently, this control table is in the development phase.

The developed command picture will allow to know the prevalence and incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus, monitor adherence to care interventions recommended by experts for good disease control, know the clinical results, complications and consumption of resourcesderivative.

At the currentThe final phase of the project incorporates these findings to clinical decision help systems for our professionals.

According to Dr. Bernardo Valdivieso, director of the La Fe Hospital Planning Area, this initiative has as benefits "the improvement of clinical results and the possibility of being able to predict patients who could get worse to avoid it."

Diabetes data in the department of Salut València la Fe

The population included in this initiative amounts to 282,030 anonymized patients corresponding to the department of Salut València la Fe, from eleven health areas.This population has identified 24,627 patients with type 2 diabetes.

With type 2 diabetes, the most common, within this type of disease related to excess glucose, the body does not produce or does not use insulin well.This is a hormone that helps glucose to enter the cells to give them energy necessary to perform their functions.If there is no insulin, or if it does not work properly, there is too much glucose in the blood and over time this circumstance can cause serious problems in the heart, kidneys and other organs and systems of the organism.

They have a greater risk of suffering whether they are in adulthood, it has obesity, family history of diabetes or not practiced exercise.According to data registered in the developed control table, the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is 8.80% in the Department and highlights the prevalence for over 40 years of age that is from the15.16%.
