Parents of children and adolescents with type I diabetes and nursing staff of the Infanta Elena hospital have participated in the training workshop that has been held in the health center, within the program developed by the Andalusia Patient School in collaboration with the Unitof endocrinology and nutrition of hospitals Infanta Elena and Juan Ramón Jiménez, in order to be the same affected by those who learn to teach other families the care and follow -up that a child requires to keep their illness controlled and lead a lifemore standardized possible.

The objective of this initial workshop, fundamentally destined to the parents of diabetic minors who already have experience in care, is to turn them into trainee patients, so that they can transmit to others affected and their caregivers their practical knowledge and a closer vision ofThe needs of children and adolescents, especially when they are recently diagnosed and require food control and monitoring of the exercise and the own medication that generates tension and concern in parents, the hospital reported yesterday.

During the meeting, attendees have shared a space for training and reflection on the strategies to take better care, have received training and informative materials to better teach their advice and have received training in educational methodologies to transmit the knowledge acquired to other people in the samesituation.
