Open the registration of the VII Carrera and Popular Walk for Diabetes

The Diabetes Madrid Association and the Diabetes Foundation have opened the registration period for the seventh race and popular walking for diabetes that will be held on Sunday, November 18 at the Camoens PaseThe seventh edition of Expodiabetes will take place.

The popular diabetes race and walk is a solidarity-sports event that brings together all types of audiences, from people with diabetes, family, friends and a significant number of runners who support this initiative and add to this celebration.

This race puts an end to the various commemorative acts held on the occasion of World Diabetes Day (November 14).Under the slogan 'Family and Diabetes', this year all activities will be aimed at increasing the awareness of the impact that diabetes has on the family and its support network, and, at the same time, recognizing their role in management, care,Diabetes prevention and education.

The main objective is to raise awareness about the importance of performing physical exercise, both to prevent type 2 diabetes among the general population and to exercise better control among people with type 1 and 2 diabetes and, at the same time, show that theDiabetes is not a limitation in the practice of exercise.

Currently there are more than 425 million people with diabetes.In Spain alone, around 14% of the population has diabetes, which represents around 5.3 million people.Of these, between 90-95% type 2 diabetes. But sometimes it usually goes unnoticed, so more than 43% are unrelated and do not know that they have diabetes until associated complications become patent.

Record of participants

In the last editions, more than 4,000 participants have gathered, which converts the race and popular walking for diabetes in the most popular sporting event related to diabetes held in Spain.In this edition the organizing entities hope to overcome that number of participants and reach 5,000 runners, as well as increase to 6,000 the number of expodiabetes visitors, which last year exceeded 5,000 visits.

As in previous years, the race and popular walking through diabetes contemplates different sports tests: a 10 -kilometer race, another 5 kilometers, a 2.2 -kilometer walk and a series of children's races for children up to 12 years.

The registration price of the 10 -kilometer race is 12.60 euros, the 5 kilometers and the walk is 10.60 euros and children's races will have an amount of 5.60 euros.Registration includes technical, dorsal t -shirt, insurance and runner bag.In addition, the 10 and 5 kilometers races will include a chip for timing.

The collection of the sale of the dorsals will be used for projects of the Diabetes Madrid Association and the Diabetes Foundation, organizing entities of the event.On the other hand, there is the possibility of making a solidarity registration and collaborating with these projects thanks to the so -called Dorsal 0 that allows a donation in the context of this event.
