The Endocrinology Service of the Gregorio Marañón University General Hospital organizes the third day on the prevention of diabetes aimed at professionals and citizens.

The objective is to raise the population of the risks of this disease and the need to prevent it.

To do this, the health professionals of the Gregorio Marañón hospital will carry out free tests to citizens who come to the center on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

At the disposal of the population from 10 am to 1 pm and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the main door of the hospital (C/ Doctor Esquerdo, 46), there will be a tent destined to the identification of people at risk of sufferingdiabetes.

For this, the BMI will be carved, the BMI will be carved, the blood pressure will be measured, the early diabetes identification test will be carried out and the nutritional and exercise recommendations will be given, of weight control and glycemic by the professionals by the professionalsSanitary of the Gregorio Marañón Hospital.

In addition, during this day there will be several show cooking sessions, to learn to cook and feed in a healthy way, and workshops with physical trainers that will teach exercises we adapt to stay active.

Almost half of the diabetics are not diagnosed

Diabetes constitutes a disease of great prevalence in our population.In Spain, approximately 14% of the general population is diabetic and of these, almost half are not diagnosed.In the days that the hospital has celebrated in previous years, it has been detected that one in three attendees presented a high risk of becoming a diabetic.

At the same time, the Endocrinology Service of the Gregorio Marañón University General Hospital has developed the III Medical-Patient Days ‘Diabetes per day’.

This scientific and practical encounter constitutes a training activity aimed at health professionals involved in the management and care of people with diabetes and diabetic patients as well as the identification and early detection of people with predisposition to it.
