With two years in operation, the Diabetes Clinic of the Engativá Hospital has provided specialized care to 500 patients affected with the disease.As results, incapacitating complications have been reduced, metabolic control and adhesion to treatments and people and their family environment have better quality of life and well -being.

The clinic, located at the Bachué headquarters, has specialized valuation services in endocrinology, nutrition, internal medicine, family medicine and nursing.

Of the patients treated, 8 percent have type 1 diabetes and 92 percent have type 2 diabetes. In 70 percent of cases the control goals have been achieved.

The creation of the Diabetes Clinic arose after evaluating the prevailing pathologies in the population treated and the initiative to generate a center of excellence at the Engativá Hospital."This allowed establishing a continuous and monitoring improvement plan with multidisciplinary management in the comprehensive care of diabetic patients," explains María del Pilar Angarita, a reference for hospital agreements and research.

In the Clinic operates an interdisciplinary group of specialists of endocrinology, internal medicine, orthopedics, ophthalmology, neurology, family medicine, general medicine, psychology, nutrition, nursing and physiotherapy, which are part of the team of teachers and residents of the National University, theUniversity Foundation of Health Sciences and the Ibero -American University Corporation, institutions that are in Teaching -Service Agreement with the North Subnet, and that complement the provision of services with professionals and plant technicians.
