More than 100 optional and nursing professionals from the provinces of Seville and Huelva have participated in the diabetes and hospital days: 'Protocols for action in hospitalized patients and discharged'.The meeting, organized by the Clinical Management Unit of Endocrinology and Nutrition of the Virgen de Macarena University Hospital in Seville, is a training activity promoted by the III Comprehensive Diabetes Plan of Andalusia (Pidma).

This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Health, aims to improve in the care of the hospitalized person with diabetes through the implementation of recommendations based on the best available evidence, reduce variability in clinical practice and acquire professional competencesFor all those involved throughout the process, as reported by the hospital in a statement.

For this reason, the day brings together a multidisciplinary teaching team for the update of the clinical protocols of action incorporated into the 2017 diabetes care process developed with the collaboration of the Diabetes Group of the Andalusian Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition and of thePIDMA Diabetological Education Network.

At present, the prevalence of diabetes is estimated at 25-30 percent of hospitalized people and their proper management contributes a potential improvement in health results, in terms of morbidity and hospital stay.Likewise, the forum addresses the adaptation of therapeutic treatment and education in the hospital, which are key elements to adapt the transition to discharge.
