The Mutual Aid Hospital of San Juan, founded in 1883 still with Puerto Rico under Spanish sovereignty and currently reference in the Caribbean, was recognized again with the certificate of recognition of the Diabetes Education (PED) Program of the American Diabetes Association (AAD).
The certification, as explained today in a press release the hospital administrator, Jorge Matta, is achieved after a rigorous evaluation that measures US quality and excellence standards established by the AAD in terms of education, management and care of diabetesHe refers and assures the participant a high quality service.
"This certification, granted for four years, validates once again that our diabetes education program offers the highest quality services to the diabetic population," said Matta.
"Through our program we always seek to be that information bridge, education and connection with the patient to have the tools and achieve self -care self," he added.
Diabetes is the third cause of death in Puerto Rico and affects half a million Puerto Ricans, according to the most up -to -date data of the Chronic Diseases Prevention and Control Division of the Department of Health.
For its part, the PED of the Auxileio Mutuo hospital has nursing and nutrition professionals who offer individual evaluations and group orientations about diabetes and their complications, medications, nutrition, exercises, glucose monitoring and feet care.
In addition, it offers follow -up quotes and access to buy Creole and frozen meals ready to heat.
The program, in turn, has other issues of interest that provide the patient with the tools for the self -care of the condition.
