The Diabetes Unit of the Sanitas La Moraleja and Sanitas La Zarzuela University Hospitals of Madrid has launched a follow -up program that incorporates a video carrier for the control of diagnosed patients.
"Technology helps to have more information and greater control, of course, but it is key that the patient responsible for their care and follow the indications of their doctors," explained the doctor of the Endocrinology Service of the Sanitas University Hospital La Hospital LaMoral,
Laura Guerrero.
Currently, Sanitas hospitals in Madrid are telemonitoring 137 patients (58 in La Zarzuela and 79 in La Moraleja), who also have the alternative of the videoconsulta to be in contact with their professionals.
"This monitoring allows us to receive the measurements of the health conditions of our patients and solve their doubts, with the plus that we contribute to a better time management, which avoids uncomfortable displacements to the hospital," added the specialist.
This monitoring program adds to other initiatives launched by the Diabetes Unit of the Madrid Campus of Sanitas Hospitals, such as the patient care circuit who debut as diabetics during their entry into hospitalization or in the emergency service of any of any ofhospitals, or gestational diabetes monitoring program.
On the other hand, the Diabetes Unit of the Madrid Campus of Sanitas has organized healthy walks with their patients, to raise awareness of the importance of being active and free of complications.In this way, Sanitas hospitals have carried out awareness with stands in centers and tests such as the 'Fondisk' test to detect the risk of type 2 diabetes.
This initiative has joined the 'Impulse Diabetes', led by the Diabetes Madrid Association that, together with the Diabetes Foundation, organized yesterday in Madrid the 'VII Carrera and Popular Walk for Diabetes', in which a group of45 Medical and Nursing professionals of the Sanitas La Moraleja and Sanitas La Zarzuela University Hospitals.
