Diabetes mellitus is a disease that occurs when the pancreas cannot generate sufficient insulin or when the one it produces cannot act in the body because the cells do not respond to their stimulus.Those who suffer from this disorder are more risk of cardiovascular disease, therefore it is very important to learn to prevent diabetes and control it.

On its risks, its diagnosis and treatment will deepen Dr. José Román Carbajal Martínez today Wednesday, November 28 in the health classrooms, organized by the north of Castile.The doctor, medical director of the Recoletas Hospital of Palencia, will speak on the novelties in Diabetes Mellitus at 7:00 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Junco Casa (Calle Mayor, 19).

There are two main types of diabetes.Type 1 diabetes mellitus is frequent that it is diagnosed before 35 years, although it can occur at any age, normally abruptly.At that time, the cells of the pancreas responsible for manufacturing insulin are destroyed and stop generating it.

For its part, type 2 diabetes mellitus is usually diagnosed after 40.It occurs essentially due to progressive cell resistance (especially liver and muscles) to the action of insulin produced.

Whether insulin production is insufficient as if there is resistance to its action, glucose accumulates in the blood, progressively damages blood vessels and increases the risk of suffering from cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease.
