Diabetes cases advance in an unstoppable way in the world. The Spanish Diabetes Federation (Fede) and Cookpad aims

Diabetes is a pandemic that already affects 415 million people worldwide and the trend points to an increase in cases that could even reach 640 million in 2040. In Spain, the number of new cases of type 1 diabetes inChildren under 15 are estimated that there are 1,000 new cases a year. They are dramatic data, according to the Spanish Federation of Diabetes (FEDE).

The Niddk (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases) specifies that diabetes occurs when blood sugar level is higher than normal.Although it has no cure, there are certain practices that will make people with this chronic disease control it and take it in the healthiest way possible. This control usually includes the introduction of very radical changes in food, with a very controlled diet.Something that is a great challenge for those people accustomed to enjoying food.

The Fede and Cookpad have joined their efforts in a collaboration that they call "for a flavor diabetes!"The objective of this initiative is to demonstrate that diabetic people can enjoy a diet as tasty as it is varied without leaving the food rules imposed by their condition - rules that sometimes suppose a barrier at the time of enjoying home cooking.

This week both entities launch their first contest "for a flavor diabetes!"Anyone can upload their favorite recipes suitable for people with diabetes to the contest page in Cookpad from Monday, January 29 and until February 8 inclusive.

Among all participating recipes, 30 will be selected that will be published in a special and free magazine for members of the Federation and Cookpad users.A pack of cookpad materials for the kitchen will also be raffled.

Cookpad is the social network of recipes and largest cuisine in the world based in Alicante. Its mission is to promote homemade cuisine, solve problems related to kitchen and strengthen communities.

Fede is the representative body of the group of people with diabetes in Spain, for which it has a total of 19 partners: 19 Autonomous Federations of people with diabetes, which group about 153 associations of people with diabetes, distributed throughout Spain.Among its main objectives are to defend the rights of these people;contribute to the moral, physical and educational support of the collective;Promote and support diabetological education;promote the improvement of health care;Prevent, intervene and detect diabetes, and promote and develop the interest and development of research.
