Schedule to take metformin

Hello!I am prediabetic and I usually take great care.The doctor has prescribed Dabex XR (prolonged release metformin) 500, twice a day.

I would like to know what is better, take it a) 7am and 7pm or 12am and 12pm?.I have read on some websites that is better with meals, I don't know.

Any suggestion?
