Titled Recipes for your heart, the entrants, seconds and desserts collected in the ebook are part of the awareness campaign #Diabetesportucorazón of the Boehringer Ingelheim and Lilly Alliance in Diabetes.

All dishes, some of which have been tasted by those attending the presentation of the book, have been reviewed by the nutritionist Dr. Ramón de Cangas.

“The objective of the book is to demonstrate that you can eat healthy and tasty at the same time, that is, that a person suffering from diabetes does not have to wear a boring or tasteless diet. The recipes proposed in the book are beneficial to the heart and suitable for people with diabetes, ”says Chicote.

The chef and presenter has dedicated the book to "all those who suffer from type 2 diabetes, to help them make their diets full of color and be very tasty."The ebook consists of nine entrants, ten seconds and nine desserts, 28 recipes in total.

"Food and life habits play a key role in the prevention of DM2, in the control of the disease and in the reduction of associated cardiovascular risks," explains the nutritionist Dr. Ramón de Cangas.“Obesity together with sedentary lifestyle are the main causes of this disease.Once developed, patients who do not take care of their lifestyle or food can see their quality of life diminish and run the risk of cardiovascular pathologies, such as hypertension or heart problems, ”warns Dr. de Cangas.

The “#Diabetesportucorazon” campaign tries to raise awareness about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle habits to prevent and control the DM2, as well as notice about cardiovascular problems associated with this disease since between 50% and 80% of people with DM2They die from complications such as myocardial infarction or stroke.

In Spain every hour 44 new cases of DM2 are diagnosed, a figure that is increasing despite the fact that up to 80% of the occasions can be prevented with healthy lifestyle habits.

The good prognosis of these patients depends, to a large extent, on the control of the disease, while the lack of self -care, on the contrary, is associated with a greater risk of disability, decreased quality of life and greater mortality. In this sense, food and physical exercise practice help control DM2 and avoid the appearance of heart problems, which are more frequent in this group.
