Medtronic recently shared two exciting products ads for the start of 2019:

A new hypoglycemia prediction function in the sugar.iqcast application is now available in the US.For users of the continuous glucose monitor (CGM) Guardian Connect. This feature aims to give users a notice of 1 to 4 hours in advance if a low event is expected.

MINIMED 780G of next generation is expected to be launched in April 2020, adding automated correction bowls for high blood sugar levels, Bluetooth and a mobile application for remote monitoring.

IQcast available in the US. Through the sugar.iq application
Three years ago, Medtronic and IBM promised to launch an application that could predict hours of hypoglycemia in advance, using the supercomputing power of IBM Watson. That function, IQcast, is finally available in the US.

Sugar.iq has been marketed as a "personal diabetes assistant", using patterns in diabetes data to provide information, for example, "I noticed that when it takes less than 10 g of carbohydrates from 6 to 9 in the morning, oftenlow".

IQcast aims to add more value when notifying users if a low blood sugar level is expected within the next 1 to 4 hours (see the example to the right), warning before the typical CGM alarms.Assuming that it does not generate too many false alarms, a passive push could be useful for users. All data is processed in the background, which means that the sugar application does not need to be open for these IQcast notifications with low prediction level.

Can the application really predict a decline in advance? The application algorithm, driven by IBM Watson, analyzes several signals such as CGM trends and user behavior to evaluate whether a user has a probability of low, medium or high hypoglycemia.(For example, the probability of a decline could be greater if a user has had many minimums at the same time of the day and took a dose of insulin greater than expected).Medtronic and IBM have previously claimed an accuracy of 80-90% up to four hours before a decline; We are not sure if this impressive precision will remain in use in the real world. We hope to try this technology to see if it is against the unpredictable real life!

Medtronic has not shared when the sugar application will be available for US Android users. Or those outside the US. To start, the Guardian Connect CGM application is expected to be on Android outside the US.UU. For next April;Sugar.iq will probably follow that.

MINIMED 780G ADVANCED HYBRID CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM WILL BE SENDED IN APRIL 2020
The Minimed 780G insulin administration system will bring several interesting 670G updates: automated correction bowling for high blood sugar levels, bluetooth connectivity and remote monitoring (for caregivers) and software updates.Automated correction bowling are particularly exciting, since they should improve the time interval and reduce user load. The first feasibility studies of 780g show a time in the range (70-180 mg / dl) of around 80%, an increase of two hours per day from 70% of the time in the range seen in the user data of the user data of the userreal world of 670g and the fundamental study. We hope that the 780G System also updates Guardian Sensor 3 CGM for "non -complementary use", allowing insulin dosing in bolus without aConfirmatory digital puncture. This change in the label will also allow the system to qualify for Medicare's coverage, an inconvenience of 670g / Guardian Sensor 3 at this time.Tandem hopes to launch its control-iq system this summer with the G6 of Dexcom, which could be the first closed hybrid cycle to launch with automated correction bowling.
