The Mexican Association of Diabetes in the Southeast invites the community to support people with this disease attending the event giving life, which will takeCenter for Yucatan Convention and Exhibitions 21st century.
This is the Fifth Lottery of the Association, to spend a pleasant time with this board game, rapport, family activities and rich snack.
The objective is to obtain resources for children and adults with type 1 and 2 diabetes, of limited resources, in vulnerable situations.
The resources are for the scholarships of the children, with which reactive strips, lancetas and glucometers are granted, in some cases, so that they can monitor their glucose levels at home.
A child with type I diabetes uses an average of 7 to 9 reactive strips per day, an expensive input, says Leticia Mena Macossay, educator in certified diabetes and teacher in clinical nutrition, of the Mexican Association of Diabetes.
It details that the Association supports people with this condition of life, with psychological, nutritional, medical, educational care services with medications and insulin, if necessary.

Scholarships are free, he explains, and other services are offered at affordable prices, in order to serve the population with this disease.
To the association's services, says Leticia Mena, 50 children with type 1 diabetes and an average of 30 adults attend, in the courses they provide.
The nutrition teacher recalls that the organization was founded in 2010, as a civil association, but her work began several years ago, at the initiative of two moms of children with type 1 diabetes, Claudia Durán and Sara Pimentel, seeing the need for othersfamilies.
The objective is to support people in vulnerable situation, with type 1 and 2 diabetes, so that they have quality of life, reiterates.

The diabetes educator states that in the country 14 percent of adults over 18 years of age have a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and, that for each person who knows that he has it, there is one who does not know."In Yucatán we are the same as the national average."
On type 1 diabetes, it indicates that there is no census, it is being carried out by associations, to know reality.
Leticia Mena shares that they want to support the greatest number of children with the disease, for which the generosity of the community is needed.
