Hello, I am DT1 since 2000. I have a girl of almost 5 years and is perfect.The great pregnancy, many reviews in the hospital by protocol but without any problem.Childbirth too.I put myself alone before 38. In the end they entered me and put a little oxytocin because I was slow.In the room I was alone with my boy but they had me controlled me at all times by monitors and came to see me every very little.The girl was born with 3,700gr and 50 cm.I weight less than 50kg and measure 1.53 and it was natural birth.The girl had no hypo.Since he was born, without obsessing, but when I have seen her a little rarilla, she has lost weight, or I drank a little more I made a glycemia and all good.The pediatricians with whom I have talked about this have told me that the DT1 is not as hereditary as it was believed and that my daughter has the same probability of being diabetic as any other person.The truth is that I have never believed that a lot and I thought they told me to reassure myself but the comments that I have read here do reassure me and much because they are not statistics, they are real cases.Thank you so much

Hello everyone !!I love that there is a thread like this, I spent all the pregnancy longing for some support and experiences of other diabetic mothers, so I tell you my great experience:
DM1 since 20 (2009, now I have 31).I got pregnant without planning it with one last we have 8.2 (you can imagine the scare when I learned) and the rest of the pregnancy I only managedThe endocrine insisted on changing it to Levemir because it is not tested in pregnancies, and it was fatal, the truth.Despite this I had no problem throughout the pregnancy, the baby was great.They did not want to put myself a bomb and did not get MCG until the eighth month, so it was quite difficult to control (things of financing in the wonderful community of Madrid).In addition, when I became pregnant I was taking medication for anxiety (Lorazepam and Prozac) so it was a very difficult start of pregnancy and with much fear that something would happen to the child.Luckily it was all good.From the 23rd week I began to need an authentic insulin barbarity (I put two 30 and 30 fiasp Levemir doses at each meal).Despite insisting on my reviews with nursing about the need to review the treatment I did not get anything (it was in the last revision of 36 weeks when they take their hands to their heads and they tell me that it is fatal and you have to change it, but the only thingThey try is to change the FIASP to the novorapid, the most absurd thing and that of course does not work at all).The truth is that I missed an endocrine in conditions that unfortunately did not have until the revision of the last week (it gave me very good guidelines for the postparture, fortunately).
From the second quarter my tension began to be somewhat to the limit and I was controlling until week 30, when I noticed that my feet began to swell and the figures shot more (I think I remember that it was between 80/150).They made me a quite exhaustive follow -up and despite a first diagnosis of mild preeclampsia and an induction ad in week 34 the 24 -hour urine test did not give positive in proteins.They continued to control the tension and the baby (which was great until a final review in week 37, when they told me that after the revision of the 38 they would give me a date for induction, since with my tension box and the weight of the little(3,200 at that time) They did not want to risk leaving it longer.of roads (one for the infusion pump that was with glucose and insulin serum and another in which they put oxytocin and antibiotic), a bit uncomfortable but manageable, although before putting the epidural I missed being able to walk freely, sinceThe roads were a gain.They will take my bomb and that's it).Finally the birth was instrumental and with episio (I had a small tear too and the episio were only two points).The baby came with two laps of cord to the neck and as it took to cry they took 1 minute of clock (always with present dad).He weighed 3,230 and measured 51 centimeters.Hypoglycemic (23 glucose) was born, which I noticed myself, because the child was very sleeping and did not want to grab his chest.They gave him some milk but in 3 hours he did not recover, so he was entered in neonates to put via with serumGlucosadoLuckily at the hospital where I gave birth, I could go to be with him, which I immediately did despite pain.
Breastfeeding from that moment is very difficult: I was not grabbed to the chest, so it took me to get the milk a lot (5 days until I started to be able to extract me) and we began to supplement him from the beginning to be able to remove the roadof serum and that maintained good glucose levels, which we achieved in 48 hours and sent us home.
Since then we continue with a chest (although it is not even close to what I wanted) and a lot of formula, but my little one is great and the effort is worth it.
Apart from all this adds to my story that the day I put in childbirth declared the state of alarm by the Coronavirus, so the grandparents and the rest of the family still do not know the baby (tomorrow turns 10 weeks).Because of that we have had to skip the review of the month, although they did the cardiologist and the size of the heart was within the normal limits (although slightly above the average).
My glucose levels after childbirth were amazing: during the next 24 hours slightly high (just after delivery 220) and then they were regulated by themselves until normality and began to need 12 of three of three and 5 of Fiasp in the meals (Then I have had to go up to my usual doses).
So this is my story (endless for the length of the text, the truth, but I needed to tell it and I hope to help someone with her).It has been and is difficult but the result of the effort is the best thing that has ever happened to me.Much encouragement if someone is in a similar situation because all diabetic women must keep in mind that day by day we deal with difficulty and pregnancy, childbirth and become a mother, despite the difficulty, they are a wonderful part of life thatIt is not worth getting lost only for fear or difficulty.Having my son in his arms after all fear, uncertainty, doubts, effort and pain is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Thank you so much!!I gave birth to Infanta Cristina.The truth is that in general I have no complaints about the hospital team, and that we saw ourselves in a fairly special situation.Some details, but unimportant, I must also say that I usually be quite comprehensive with certain failures.The endocrinology team, except for exceptions, it seems to me that it can be improved, but they do what they can, I simply have the feeling that they are not too specialized in diabetes (specifically in type 1 diabetes, especially in nursing).

Well, I think the risk will be the same as another 40 -year -old non -diabetic woman.It is the fact of having type 1 diabetes that in itself is a risk factor, but that is why you have to plan pregnancy and follow diabetes very closely throughout pregnancy to minimize risks.But because of being 40 I do not think it is a reason for you not to recommend it, unless you already have any previous complication (retinopathy, kidneys..etc).My sister -in -law with thrombophilia had its first child at 40 and the second to 42. All healthy and without complications.It is that today we have children later and thanks to advances and care does not have to go wrong.

The only thing my endocrine has told me in what has to do with respect to childbirth is that my insulin applies to me as normally and after giving birth, I lower half the first days the requirements go down a lot.And after there I already corrected me little by little as I see whether it goes up or down.And for breastfeeding it is not so strict, that you can give me hypoglycemia

What a joy to have found this thread.I am DT1 and I am 32 weeks pregnant, I have a very good control of glucose, I have been all the pregnancy between 4.7 and 5.5 of glycosiladTake a good control, they always induce childbirth before week 39 ... for me it has been a bit of a click because both my mother and my sister have had their pregnancies of 41 weeks and even more, so I imagine that they are doing itto have to provoke.I have not heard good experiences of induced deliveries so I have become a bit uneasy.
My question is, I have seen that many have had the birth of the 37th week, is it because they have induced it?Is it possible that being diabetic makes it move forward?

Hello!I have had 3 very different deliveries and after those experiences I can assure you that many times the most appropriate for the baby is an induction.My second childbirth was "natural" of 39+4 days (being in full confinement) and being a baby with enough 4,700 kg weight had to perform a rather large episiotomy with its postpartum consequences .. my third baby came in week 38With planned induction to prevent the previous one (according to Eco weighed 3,500 kg) on the day of delivery I weighed 4,400 kg, I do not want to imagine if they had left me until 40. Of the 3 pregnancies it was my best delivery, a very quick expulsion, did not haveHypoglycemia, all great.
I encourage you not to be afraid of inductions

NOGY!You always have the last word, it is called the patient's autonomy (unless you are in danger of your life, obviously).
I debuted in DT1 being pregnant 18 weeks with their corresponding ketoacidosis and 4 days of hospital admission ... you can imagine the scare and the tremendous concern for my new disease and if I would be affecting the fetus.I had to learn everything about diabetes in record time to get good controls (glycada always below 6).Even so I could not prevent the baby from growing too much, it was close to 4 kg, so they induced me in week 39. First they put me propess and then oxytocin, but I did not expand a centimeter and ended in caesarean section.At all times I took a glucose and insulin path.The girl was born perfect, it's turned 4 now.
I am quite concerned that she and my future children can inherit the disease.What do you know about it?😢
