20 children with diabetes live in the diabecamp in the YMCA

About 20 children with type 1 diabetes enjoyed Diabecamp, a camp where through recreational activities the education of the care required by a person with this pathology was encouraged.For two days the attendees dedicated themselves to sharing their life testimonies, sports, crafts and practicing the care that each case requires.

During their stay at the camp organized by the Mexican Association of Diabetes in Chihuahua, carried out at the YMCA facilities, children received the required medical care such as constant glucose monitoring and balanced foods organized in five portions during thecourse, so that their sugar levels remain within the stability range.

All under the tutelage of health specialists such as nutritionists, psychologists, doctors and graduates in Physical Education, who organized activities and clarified the questions that arose in children.

This experience allowed them to be in an environment where they know children who have their same age, interests, health condition, fears and concerns.The objective of this camp was to instill an autonomy in children who live with this pathology, through sports such as swimming, zumba, games and karate.

"It is very important that they learn to prevent late complications with good control and good diet and regular physical activity," said the president of the Mexican Association of Diabetes in Chihuahua, Gloria Peña de Chong.
