Look at the prospect to see if it is between side effects or asks the doctor.Normally most medications have many mild side effects, it could be normal but if it is a known effect it will put it in the prospect.

I would worry more about the ketoacidosis that you presented a year ago, since metformin is not indicated in your case.I recommend that you consult an endocrinologist, who is the specialist to treat diabetic patients.Many times family doctors do not have the necessary training to treat certain aspects of the disease.

Prevention
There are many things you can do to prevent diabetic ketoacidosis and other diabetes complications.

Commit to the control of diabetes.Make healthy eating and physical activity part of your daily routine.Take oral medications for diabetes or insulin according to indications.
Control your blood glucose levels.You may need to measure and record your blood glucose levels at least three or four times a day, or more frequently if you are sick or under stress.Rigorous control is the only way to make sure that your blood glucose levels are maintained within the desired range.
Adjust the insulin dose as necessary.Talk to your doctor or diabetes educator about how to adjust the insulin dose in relation to the level of blood glucose, what you eat, what is your level of activity, if you are sick and other factors.If your blood glucose levels begin to rise, follow your diabetes treatment plan to return to the desired range.
Verify your ketone levels.When you are sick or under stress, analyze your urine to detect the excess of ketone with a ketone analysis equipment in the free sale urine.If your ketone level is moderate or high, communicate with your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention.If you find a level higher than what is considered traces of ketones, you may need to take more insulin.

I also take metformin, half compressed every 8 hours, for breakfast and food, apart from Novorapid and Lantus.
Metformin was put by the endocrine.

@Ajd

Interesting !I thought that metformin was only for people with DM2.

Just out of curiosity, is it for what do you have insulin resistance?

I have read that there are people with DM1 q can generate insulin resistance, something to logically avoid

All the best

DM1 desde Marzo 2018 (53 años). 7-10 unidades basal: Abasaglar (insulina glargina). NovoRapid. Factor 1.0/1.5.
Vivo en Alemania. CarboH total dia 70-80 gr. Deporte Gym todos dias L-V 1h-2 h
HbA1c 5,5% (Abril 2022)

I was taking metformin about 8 or 10 years, I don't remember because they put it on me, but I possibly had some overweight, I never had any strange flavor, a year and a half ago I must take it, so I had to upload food and dinner ratio, it was when I took it.
