Ask for an appointment with diabetological nurse. They will tell you that you should eat, they usually assign you a diet. You can make traditional diet, or a low hydrates or a ketogenic. There are to choose.

Of course, never industrial pastries, or cereals, at breakfast they usually recommend skim milk with coffee and whole wheat (max 40 grams) with protein.
Eating vegetables, some legume but small quantity because they are a source of hydrates, the paste little or nothing, grilled meats and fish, two pieces of fruit a day, 3 eggs a week, .... the normal of a regimetraditional.Nothing of fatty cheeses, or cooked, or sausages. There are 1000, 1200, 1500, 1700, 2000 kcal.

If you drop it in hydrates or close to oto, they take away sources of hydrates, the purists do not go from 30 grams of HC.Avocados, eggs, fish, meats, ... a piece of fruit per day. With this diet less insulin is used.
This has been made by a friend not to take metformin. He has controlled his header doctor.
