BIADIT: Another deception product against diabetes

The Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) warned about the health risk that a product that promises therapeutic and rehabilitating properties against diabetes.This is Biadit, which is marketed as a food supplement.
According to the health authority, it has not been endorsed that this deception product is safe and effective in treatment against this condition.COFEPRIS ignores concentrations, sanitary conditions, raw materials, manufacturing and storage process.
"Therapeutic and rehabilitative properties against diabetes are attributed to him without studies that guarantee quality, safety and efficacy for the treatment of this chronic-degenerative disease," he said.
Far from having beneficial health properties, this product could contain elements that in combination with some medications can be toxic.
"Decay products such as Biadit usually contain ingredients of natural or synthetic origin in different proportions that, combined, may have harmful side effects or interact negatively with medications that are consumed," the commission explained in a statement.
In addition to the fact that there is no evidence that Biadit is useful in combat in diabetes, its consumption is risky since, according to its label, it is a nutritional supplement but contains elements that should not be used in this type of products,according to the herbal pharmacopoeia of the United Mexican States (FHEUM).
"The ingredients declared on the label of this deception product, such as gym and chromium, should not be used for the elaboration of food supplements," said the body.
Even if Biadit were a food supplement, it would not serve to combat diabetes, since this the objective of this class of product is "to increase total dietary intake, complement or supply any of its components, but they are not a medication."
