Hello, first of all I want to introduce myself, my name is Ariel and I live in Argentina.I use Medtronic Bomb with Guardian and used to have very good controls, a glycosilada of 6.2 with a permanence in range of 85% per month.I usually had more hypo than hyper glycemia.
But two weeks ago I suffered several alterations, the first was strange hyperglycemia, with values that reached 270, it generated a lot of stress, because they did not respond to any cause, that is, an intake of carbohydrates. The curve was inception in a few minutes went from a fair value from 110-140 to 270. The insulin pump threw hundreds of corrective bowling but nothing happened. The first time I thought it was the infusion set, or the location of the cannula, even the same insulin ... spent a few days and everything seemed to reach normal, however the episodes returned. And in the morning they also continued with values of 150 that although they are not high when ingesting any hydrate the glucose seemed to run by leaps and bounds.
I also realized that I needed more insulin to control carbos.Yesterday a ration of 30 hydrates (it was rice) led me to a 230 hyper but in a uncontrolled way when I used the same dose.I am sometimes without eating hydrates and worried
Talking to the doctors and specialists who attend my controls with Medtronic they told me that it may be that because of some physiological issue it is needing more insulin, but the bomb fails to correct these values.
Anyone who uses insulin bomb has had such problems?
Thank you very much for listening to me
greetings!

@Arucat, Hello!
I don't know anything about pumps, but it seems so strange that the pump put so much corrective bowling and don't notice ...
If it is not due to the bomb or insulin failure, it could be that you had some lipodystrophy in that area of the abdomen and the insulin is not absorbed well.
I don't know .., to say something ..
If that is not, you will need more insulin. The rice rises a lot.You will have to adapt the hydrates to what the pump can do .., it may be that you do the slower digestions ..
Let's see if you find the cause and you can fix it.

Greetings!

@Arucat Good morning. Some time ago I wrote here a topic with a situation very similar to the one you have, being at that time also a user of insulin bomb.I changed everything that can be changed (insertion zone, cannula, insulin ...) and nothing.I commented with my doctor and I didn't know what could be happening. In the end I believe, after several tests, that the problem was insulin (novorapid at that time).I started a new box and improved the situation quite a lot.I think it could be spoiled or bought it badly and from there those unjustified high glucose peaks. In case you can help you.

Hi Anabela, thanks for your answer. As you say on one occasion, something similar happened to me with insulin peaks that then simply improved when changing the insulin box.But now I changed their box and yet these problems follow.I was very afraid to see those high values and see that insulin does not react.
I used insulin bomb Accucchek Combo for 6 years and now I use Medtronic with Guardian for a year, and the truth was always fine. But now these episodes leave me something perplexed. It is more even I thought that just as the bomb has its advantages, sometimes it seems to take some independence.
For simple curiosity, why did you decide to stop using the pump?

Thank you for your Respueta.Yes, that of the corrective bowling without efficiency to correct is rare, but at certain times they work correctly that is the incredible. The doctor told me that it rotates the areas especially the abdomen due to a problem of lipodystrophy. The truth becomes exhausting, because it spends a lot of time without eating hydrates for fear or also without sleep.

@Arucat I also used the Roche Accucchek Combo bomb this year, I took it for 8 years and very well.In the hospital where they take me, they proposed to change to Medtronic 780 with Guardian sensor but after 2 months I left her, I did not get used to her (I am aware that it is a very good bomb, but it did not go well). Now I am with Bolis, after so many years without them, waiting for another bomb that best suits me (and I).
