Hello,
I am type 1 diabetic for 20 years. For 20 years I have used feathers and currently with very good glycosilada, I am happy with the feathers and I do not want insulin bomb.
That said, I want to ask if someone in a similar situation has also had a bad experience with Tresiba (slow insulin). My endocrine insisted on changing the slow insulin Lantus, which I used once a day when bedtime, for 20 years, for the Tresiba. From the change I am having hyperglycemia every night, although I maintain good levels, and the glycosylate has uploaded an entire point.I have been giving a chance to change a month but I want to return to the Lantus.I have searched for information and I only see studies that speak of a better IRR with Tresiba than with Lantus and that does not help me.

@Lau44, my daughter didn't adapt to the Tresiba and came from Lantus. He turned to Lantus, had bolis at home.
With the next end of the endo began with Toujeo. With that yes it is happy, with more stability and much less hypoglycemia than with Lantus.

Hija de 35 años , diabética desde los 5. Glico: normalmente de 6 , pero 6,7 la última ( 6,2 marcaba el Free)
Fiasp: 4- 4- 3 Toujeo: 20

@Lau44
If you put threeiba in the forum search engine you will see that there are delighted people and people who have not managed to adapt. There are many threads about it.
(That said, I do not understand that an endocrine changes something that is going well. Another thing would be that with Lantus you had problems.)

Hello, my 14 -year -old son, 3 already with DT1, used the lantus as basal, with a dose of 17ui x day, our endocrine of the SS encouraged us to change to threeiba, the dose?80% of the Lantus to begin with, about 13 or 14 IU of three, 3 or 4 days more or less well but then the pardon needs were raising and in a week we are already with a dose of 23ui Tresiba and the ratios of the rapids that were 1.7 before are in 3, and still we are somewhat uncontrolled ..... Any experience or comment of someone.

Thank you very much and greetings.

Hi @acostap!

Thank you for sharing your experience, surely many parents of the forum feel identified with what you say.The change from Lantus to Tresiba may require a somewhat unpredictable adjustment period at the beginning, since although both are basal, they have different action profiles.Tresiba has a more flat and durable effect, which can make rapid insulin needs also change.

That you have started with 80% of the previous dose is quite common as a starting point, but as you are seeing, each body reacts differently and sometimes it is time to readjust much more than expected. It is not uncommon for at first to seem that everything is going well and then begin to appear hyperglycemia. The good news is that with a little patience and with support from the medical team, most families manage to find the appropriate doses.

Some members of the forum have commented that they helped them a lot to keep a detailed record of glycemia, meals and doses during the first days of change to detect patterns and facilitate the endocrine a good summary to work with. There are also those who have commented that the typical hormonal changes of adolescence can play a bad pass right in these moments.

If you have not done so, you could share these changes with the endocrine to guide you about whether it is convenient to continue raising the three or also readjust the rapids. And if it serves you, in the bookLive with diabetes: the power of the online communityThere are very real testimonies of families that have gone through similar situations.Sometimes giving it to the couple or relatives helps everyone better understand what it implies living with type 1 diabetes, especially in adolescence.

A lot of encouragement! You are not alone in this. Here we are to support you 💙

@Lau44 to me the basal change cost me 6 weeks.I did it from Levemir to Toujeo.

I asked for it to save a puncture since Levemir (the same goes for Lantus) does not cover 24 hours.

I started with the same units and went up until I found the dose.

Lada enero 2015.
Uso Toujeo y Novorapid.

Good morning everyone

More than 5 years ago I changed Lantus for Tresiba: very happy. The late hypoglycemia that I had with the first disappeared.I think I had an important action peak at 6 or 7 h., I'm not sure. The only inconvenience of Tresiba is that it forces me to deliver semiannual reports of your need and the continuous visa of recipes, which in my case implies continuous displacements to the capital.Ordinary mail is not practical.

Greetings.

Desde 1984 diabético tipo 1
Tresiba al mediodía , Apidra en las comidas.
Glicosiladas alrededor de 6,5 %
