Adapting to life with diabetes and semi -insulin

Hello,
I have just given the results of a blood test that I made by high glucose suspicions;Typical symptoms are very frequent urine and a lot of thirst.The results are clear: glucose 299 and hemoglobin A1c 11.1%.
I am 50 years old, I have prescribed meglee prolonged action insulin, 18 units.
I started yesterday, at 8:30 p.m. I measured the glucose and had 118. I had grilled mushrooms, small amount, and today morning on an empty stomach, the glucose was 258.
I guess it's still very soon to draw conclusions, I've only punctured myself 2 times.
I am quite lost, my doctor has not sent me to the endocrine, yes to the nutritionist, I have an appointment within 1 week.
I have stopped eating sweets, I control myself with the food, I no longer urine at night, nor do I am thirsty.
Let's see how this evolves.

Something similar happened to me even if you have glycosada hemoglobin at 11.1%, surely you have a season with diabetes and only now the symptoms appeared.
I would recommend you consult an endocrine on your own.If you tell only with those of social security, the follow -up is going to be scarce, especially now that you still have to understand how your diabetes behaves.
In addition, adjustments will have to be made in insulin doses until you find a balance between insulin, diet and exercise.
In the beginning I went to the endocrine every 3 months, and as it stabilizes and you learn to control diabetes you will no longer need such frequent monitoring.But right now I recommend that you go, it will be positive not only for your diabetes but also for your mental health.Because so much uncertainty ends up taking its toll

Something that can be of great help for your nutritionist is that you register, during that waiting week, what you eat at the different meals of the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, ...).It also points the glycemia values that come out at different times of the day (on an empty stomach, before eating and two hours after having eaten).Do not macate your fingers, but it is important to look at your sugar not only when you are fasting when you get up.

Apart from what you have been told about the endocrine (it would be important to know what type of diabetes you have for treatment) I tell you that it is normal that you do not go down in two punctures.
The insulin they have sent you is slow and it will take at least 10/15 days to see the effects.It helps to go for a walk or any exercise to go down, apart from controlling the food.
But as you have an appointment in a week insists that they send you to the endocrine and you are calm.

Abasaglar 9 unidades. Metformina, 1000/0/1000. Humalog junior: 2 unid en desayuno y luego en función de lo que coma.

My type of diabetes is type 2. for now I still injecting insulin, 20 units, a single injection per day.My glucose levels have dropped considerably to about 120-130 on an empty stomach.My doctor advised me to measure my glucose just in the morning, so that I did not overwhelm me.One day I measured it in the afternoon, after exercising, and I was 90.
My doctor also told me that if this follows, I would leave insulin, and pass to pills.
