People with diabetes are mobilized by their rights

There has been a new document that underlines the importance of our participation in decisions related to our health.This document ‘Participation in decision making’ of the Fede is a step forward in the defense of our rights, highlighting how we can and must be an active part of the decisions that influence our physical, emotional and social well -being.

This approach is aligned with the rights established by the European Charter of Patient Rights, which includes disease prevention, access to necessary health services, and the reception of clear and understandable information about our state of health.More importantly, it underlines our right to consent to treatments and make informed decisions about our medical care.

The essential thing about this approach is that it invites us to be more than mere medical care receptors;It summons us to be partners in the creation of public policies and the clinical decisions that affect us.From participating in the committees that evaluate new medicines until they have a voice in public drug contests and health products, we are recognizing us as key actors whose voices must be heard and respected.

This movement also seeks to strengthen collaboration between patients and medical care systems, ensuring that the support and care we receive are customized and consider our specific needs.This includes the right to clear communication with our doctors and to receive a quality diabetological education that empowers us to better manage our health.

We have to take this opportunity to assert our rights and ensure that our participation has a real impact on how our condition is handled.This is a call to all get more actively involved, to share our experiences and to work together to improve our quality of life.

We are at a time where our voice can and should make a difference.

Participating actively and being well informed will allow us not only to live with diabetes, but to live well with diabetes.
