Good Sweets, the Christmas holidays will soon be and I think it has already been mentioned on some occasion, a handicap is created for us, when shopping, the stores are filled with typical Christmas products.
From my experience of diabetics type Lada, I tried everything, 1st buy the special products for diabetics (nougats, marzipan, Polvorones, etc. without sugar) which is a deception, since they add sweeteners, they taste like hell and your glucose rises, very expensive.2nd I spent Christmas without trying any of that, and well it was good, of course not eating anything good that.3º- I ate some sweets, the only thing, taking it into account and pricking yourself too much, and then correcting it, but well, once a year it doesn't hurt as the saying goes, but it's not the healthiest either.
Well, I don't know what options you choose.

I haven't been able to eat Christmas products for many years, not because of diabetes but because of digestive problems...not even a "typical" Christmas lunch or dinner...I eat and have dinner like any other day, at home, with my partner, just like the rest of the year.I had surgery 5 years ago and I improved a lot although I still follow almost the same diet.With the operation came diabetes, which is less restrictive than my previous condition.If it were due to diabetes (and what I have on my back), I would eat a little sweet on the days when it was most difficult for me to deprive myself of it and I would cover it with exercise and/or insulin.Diabetic products are a scam, they have a lot of carbohydrates even though they don't add sugar.

You don't need to binge to treat yourself to a meal or a treat from time to time.
Those who say no sugar increase almost the same.
It is better to eat the normal ones and savor them slowly to eat less.

I eat the classic ones that have little hydrate, soft and hard.

Hello Antuam, I don't like sweets in general, so Christmas doesn't affect me in that regard.Particularly Polvorones, Nougats, etc., are very cloying to me.Maybe the only thing I like a little are puff pastries (I have 2 for the entire Christmas).Well, I also usually get a little red box for hypos and I enjoy each chocolate as if it were the last chocolate in the universe.What I do eat in the upcoming holidays are:
- chestnuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and all raw and whole nuts in general.
- natural pineapple and coconut.
- I go thin on meat if I feel like it to compensate.
- fish and seafood at discretion, trying to prepare it myself to avoid excess salt.
- various and smoked pickles in moderation.
- a glass of Baileys type liqueur, some whiskey (minimum 12 years old) and of course cider.
And this year, because of how they are rising and in case in the 26th they have become a luxury item, I am going to go all out on deviled eggs.
Products for diabetics, as friends say, are a scam, they don't contain sugar but they do contain refined flours and other crap.

I feel you on the Christmas sweets! 🍰 I enjoy a few, and my CGM lets me see my sugar in real-time so I can adjust if needed. Makes it way less stressful!
