Hello everyone!
Today is a very special day for me and I wanted to share it with you: I fulfill 52 years!🎉
This reminds me that there is another anniversary to "celebrate" ... today they are also fulfilled27 years since I was diagnosed with diabetes! That means that I have already passedMore than half a life living with diabetes, and I can say that without complications to date.
When I look back, I remember those first moments after the diagnosis: fear, uncertainty, doubts about what my life would be from then on.And yet, here I am, 27 years later, with more energy than ever and grateful for everything they learned along the way.
During this time, I have learned to listen to my body as never before, to adjust my diet and adapt the exercise to my real needs, not to impossible ideals.I have also discovered that diabetes is not only managed with insulin and glucometers, but with community, emotional support and understanding. Therefore, being part of this forum, reading your stories and sharing mine, has been a fundamental part of the well -being that I have managed to maintain.
My family is fundamental, but so is support between people whoWe know what we are talking aboutWhen we say that we have hypoglycemia at midnight, that we go to the doctor with a list of doubts, or that we have to explain for the umpteenth time that is about the sensor in the arm.
In this last year, I have also given the book(Yes, you know which one ... it's not advertising)To several people, some close friends and family, and I loved to see how they have better understood what it means to live with diabetes and how they can support more actively, for meIt is much more than a detail: it is a way of saying "I understand you, I am with you."
So today, while I breathe the candles, I celebrate not only my 52 years, but also 27 years of struggle, perseverance, learning, ups and downs ... and a lot of personal growth.
Thank you for being there and for making this community a place where you feel at home!
A big hug to all,
