Hello everyone,

I am looking for information for a friend with type 1 diabetes that will come to study in Spain for 6 months.Under the conditions of the visa of studies they ask you to have full medical insurance, but when you review the documentation with it, we have doubts about whether this insurance will cover treatment related to diabetes (they never asked you a questionnaire prior to the hiring of said insurance).

My question is: Can my friend buy insulin normally in Spain in case of needing it?Your idea is to bring it from your country of origin, but there can always be some emergency ... I understand that, if you need it, you will need a medical prescription to buy it in pharmacy. Can a foreigner get this prescription in public health in case you put hut with insurance?

Thank you very much in advance for your help,
All the best.

Your friend must have insurance that covers his stay, that includes sensors, pump, glucose and insulin strips.
The Spanish health system covers him if he registered, since he is assigned a header who can prescribe him.
Without a recipe, insulin is not sold in pharmacies. And if he gets it because they are sold, approximately 84 are.
