Among other activities, minors who go to these camps receive information about the medication they must take, what kind of food is the most appropriate for them, advice on physical activities and standards to develop in special situations or live together outside their home

The Ministry of Health has organized eight summer camps that will allow 345 children with diabetes to increase knowledge about their illness, while carrying out the usual outdoor and leisure activities in these enclosures, as reported today by the spokesman's office todayAndalusian government.
This initiative, which the Board develops for the sixth consecutive year in collaboration with the associations of diabetic patients, also allows children to exchange experiences with other diabetic children, under the supervision of 83 monitors and health professionals.

Of the total participating children, 30 come from the province of Almería;42 of Cádiz;39 of Córdoba;42 of Granada;37 of Huelva;40 from Jaén;65 from Malaga and 50 from Seville. The camps will take place, between June 29 and September 7, in the pitfalls of San José (Almería), Priego de Córdoba (Córdoba), Baza (Granada), Junta de los Ríos (Cádiz), La Iruela (Jaén (Jaén), Cazalla de la Sierra (Seville) and Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz). In the latter municipality two camps will be held.

Among other activities, children who come to these camps receive information about the medication they must take, what kind of food is the most appropriate for them, advice on physical activities and standards to develop in special situations or live together outside their home.

The camps, which have been an investment of more than 100,000 euros by the Ministry of Health, constitute one of the multiple initiatives included in the Comprehensive Diabetes Plan of Andalusia. The fundamental objective of this strategy is to reduce the incidence and impact of diabetes in the community, raise the quality of life of those affected, adapt the offer of services to the needs of the population and increase the degree of knowledge and information of thepopulation about diabetes.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition that appears when blood glucose levels are high as a result of problems in the production or functioning of insulin, necessary to metabolize glucose.

It is estimated that more than 400,000 people in Andalusia have diabetes, of which 5 percent suffer from type 1 diabetes (which appears suddenly and generally in patients below 40 years) and 95% type 2 diabetes (more relatedWith age, excess weight and unhealthy lifestyles).

Does anyone know if there are plans such as the "Comprehensive Diabetes Plan of Andalusia" in other Autonomous Communities? ... Maybe that is the point of difference ... :?:-/: ?:

Pozí ... In the Valencian Community, last year the 2006-2010 diabetes plan was published (or what is the same version V.2 of the 1996 plan).

Also in Castilla La Mancha there is 1 plan published, and it seems to me to remember that in Extremadura the same.

The plans, national strategies, agreements, regulations ... are papers, mostly wet.
As a friend of mine says:
"The rigor of the law is attenuated with the prudent breach" only that in the case of diabetes we would see the phrase.

It is curious to see, how in most "official" documents (plans, strategies, directives, laws ...) obvious to children's diabetes, it seems that there is not and at least in my opinion, nothing has to do with less diabetes with less16-17 years with diabetes over 20-25.

Regarding the camps, who have been the Catalans for years, with very good organization and collaboration with the Administration.
